Fix your travel-weary skin at SCLC

Travel happy people are often over exposed to sun.The one flip side of travel that I have always encountered is the damage to my skin. A large part of the blame rests with me as I tend to get carefree with the exposure to the sun and careless with the reapplication of sunscreen on my skin. This time too, as I happily went about making the most of the long weekend breaks that the onset of Indian festive season offered, my skin took the toll…

Like me, there are a lot of travelers who face a similar predicament. But like me, I am not sure if they have a go to place to tip that delicate skin moisture balance in place. My go to place for some time has been SCLC (Santhoshii Cosmetology & Laser Clinic) in Defence Colony, New Delhi. Spearheaded by an expert cosmetologist and aesthetician, Priyanka Tyagi, who is a very well known name in skincare, I find myself slipping into the comfort that only trust provides when it comes to sensitive matters, like skincare.

Armed with degrees in engineering in cosmetics for formulations, a PhD in nanotechnology, and a formal degree in cosmetology, Priyanka has been working in the field of skin science for over a decade now. She has even brought in sophisticated skincare technology and brands in India for cosmetic treatments. “Exposure to the sun, pollution, stress and wrong eating habits account for the main reason for pigmentation, breakouts and damaged skin, in addition to the signs of ageing such as wrinkles and dark circles,” she is quick to point out. Dehydration and poor digestion, mainly owning to stress make the matters worse.

Of course, there is technology to rescue as it employs a very advanced treatment to infuse some life back. To get me my healthy skin, Priyanka suggested a five in one system treatment that employed techniques of Skin Polishing, Detan, Tightening and Rejuvenation. This is how it went:

Mesotherapy products for the skin

Mesotherapy is a relatively non-invasive, painless, and safe superficial French injection technique for medical and cosmetic concerns.

CLEANSING: The face was cleansed using a milk-based cleanser sans parabens. Active ingredients like Camomile and Allantoin cleansed the dry skin without making it sensitive.

Double Cleansing with clarifying Hydrating Solution with STEM CELL INNOVATION technology helped the skin to come to a normal p H of 5.5 and also moisturised it as it contained hyaluronic acid. This specific micellar product provides gentle alternative to milk, make-up remover and tonic.

MICRODERMABRASION popularly known as MDA or skin Polishing with diamond crystals helped to remove the dead skin layer and prepare the skin for the infusion of the active solution. The special MDA equipment works using a controlled flow of ultra clean diamond crystals set in a motion by vacuum created in low pressure which allows the gentle removal of the dead cells from the stratum corneum of the epidermis. The diamond crystals are highly inert and therefore, there is no risk of crystal related side effects.

OXYJET COOLING was applied on the skin with cool air pressure to calm down the skin. Oxygen helped in rejuvenation and cooling helped in soothing the skin immediately.

MESOPEEL (MODIFIED JESSNER) was applied over the skin after protecting the sensitive areas with a petroleum jelly. The peel was left over the skin for 8 mins and was closely watched upon to see any signs of frosting or redness. This is a chemical exfoliant which contains a combination of salicylic, lactic and citric acid. It has antimicrobial, anti-oxidant and anti-ageing properties.

Salicylic Acid: BHA has a powerful keratolytic and anti-comedone effect. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, astringent and anti-ageing properties

Lactic Acid: Keratolytic AHA simulates thickening of the epidermis and dermis. It increases the concentration of Hyaluronic Acid in the extracellular matrix, firming and moisturising the skin.

Citric Acid: AHA with exfoliating, de-pigmenting, anti-oxidant and anti-ageing properties.

After the exposure time of 8 mins was over, the area was washed with purified water and plenty of post-peel neutraliser was sprayed to normalise the pH of the skin.

Post procedure, fast skin repair serum with HA was infused into the skin to rejuvenate the layers of the skin. And voila there was my skin all breathing and rejuvenated.

The final finish was the application of moisturising SPF 50 to make sure the skin was protected from harmful UV Rays.
